Featuring [Double LP] by Caity Gyorgy

The vinyl debut from Caity Gyorgy follows her 2022 JUNO win for best vocal jazz album. The double vinyl features friends, colleagues, peers and mentors including Pat LaBarbera, Jocelyn Gould, Alison Au, Laura Anglade and Christine Jensen.

Featuring confirms Gyorgy’s status as a singular young voice in jazz today — a multi-hyphenate talent with her own style and infallible technical command. Her lyrics evoke the wit and sophistication of a bygone era. Her storytelling is both clever and disarmingly down to earth, whether she’s writing about overcoming shyness (“I Feel Foolish”), longing for love (“My Cardiologist”), or chronicling the back and forth of friendship (“The Feeling is Mutual”). Her singing is world-class, period. From her ballad work (“Start Again,” “I Miss Missing You”), to her scat improvisation (“Cover Up,” “It’s Pronounced George”), and everything in between, Gyorgy is endlessly listenable. Add on the fact that she’s also arranging and producing, and you start to run out of accolades trying to capture everything the 24 year-old does on Featuring.
